Q & A: U-joints
Hello John, this is kind of a stupid question but Dad says you have to drop the rear-end to change the u-joints on his 74 midget, but the engine is getting pulled to replace the clutch so seems like this would be a good time to pull the drive shaft and have them done. Who wins the bet?

It is NOT necessary to remove the diff. All you have to do is disconnect the four 5/16-24 x 1 1/4" bolts from the drive shaft flange, and then, jiggle the drive shaft out of the tunnel -- I believe I usually move it ou... read more
