There were three entries in this year’s GLT and all successfully drove all the way around Lake Michigan. There were 20 checkpoints, either microbreweries or former sites of MG dealerships in the 70’s (there was one exception in St. Ignace where there is no micro and was no MG dealer, so we fudged it and used a fudge shop). 30 hours were allowed for driving the rally and all entrants were back within 28 1/2. The finishing results were:
1st Place – Stefanie and Mike Barnes of St. Louis, MO and the St. Louis MG Club in a 1971 MGB GT visiting 20 of 20 checkpoints in 969 miles
2nd Place – Eric Duram of Lowell, MI and Jason Duram of Saranac, MI and of the Western Michigan Old Speckled Hens MG Club in a 1978 MGB Roadster (top down the entire way) visiting 20 of 20 checkpoints in 1004 miles
3rd Place – David Novak and Lisa Jones of Chicago, IL and the Chicagoland MG Club in a 1974 MGB Roadster visiting 11 of 20 checkpoints in 938 miles
Thursday 8/15/13 at 8:00 am I will be closing on line registration. If you’re going to come to our summer party, just plan on registering at the Hilton. Thank you!
Dave brought us his Uncle Ray’s TD which was completely full of walnuts about 6 months ago. Check out the restoration. He just picked it up and drove it home, stopping along the way for some photo’s. If you want to see it in person, be sure to attend our summer party!
Our customers Dave and Carla Hendry entered their MGB in the Michiana Brits Car Show last Sunday in South Bend and won Best in Class MGB Rubber Bumper! Congrats to the Hendry’s!
So after you’ve completely stripped an MGB that needs to go to the body shop, how do you get it there? You put milk crate in it and drive it there of course.
Since University Motors Ltd 3.0 is located by the airport, we never cease to get visitors. Today we were visited by Jason & Karen Bremmer from Isellohm, Germany. Here is the kicker, Jason worked here from 1988 to 1989.
