Q & A: MGA Comp Clutch
@ 10 years ago you did a complete restoration on my 1960 MGA-and it still
looks great! Part of that restoration was the fitting of a diaphragm clutch
in place of the stock MGA clutch. About a year and a half ago I had a very
bad accident (not in the MG!) and my clutch leg and knee is now very weak. I
need to refit the stock MGA clutch which is much easier in operation. I'm
going to do the work myself this spring with the help of another MGA owner.
My question is were there any modifications made to the car other than
fitting of different clutch components when the diaphragm clutch was fitted?
I figure I'll be replacing at least the pressure plate, clutch plate, throw
out bearing. Would you have made any modifications to the bell housing,
clutch lever, fly wheel etc??
The competition pressure plate sandwiches the clutch disc between the
pressure plate and the flywheel with much greater force than the standard
